Foil-stamping process originated in the ancient civilization period, and it was carried out by hand in the early stage.

During the Ming Dynasty in China, hot stamping printing technology began to appear, mainly using hot stamping on printed books, paintings and other handicrafts.

In Europe, gilding was widely used in medieval monasteries to decorate books, letters and religious objects. In the 17th century, the foil stamping process was further developed, and some new tools and machines appeared, which made hot stamping more convenient.

In the 18th century, foil-stampinging was applied in a wider range, and was used to decorate various cultural artworks and daily necessities. With the development of science and technology, today's foil-stamping process has become more efficient and precise.
